Chapter 10

The Pilot Light

Three anchors, four seconds each, two weeks. The practice that survives a bad day.

In the book: chapter 10

The short version

A low-level, maintained current of the Joyful Exhale’s felt sense, carried through an ordinary day rather than visited once and dropped. Built with cue design: attaching the practice to something that already happens reliably in your day.

What the research says

Cue design is standard behavior-change practice (attach the new thing to something that already happens). The Backdrop itself is craft.

Rooms where it does the work

Two rules, no exceptions

Never practice any technique on this site while you are driving, operating machinery, or doing anything that needs your full attention. The slow ones can make you drowsy, faster than you’d expect. And never practice a breath-hold, bellows breath, or any vigorous breathing in or near water. Read Before you begin for the doctor’s list and the rest.

The short version is a reminder, not a lesson. The chapter has the story, the steps, the mistakes, and the limits.
